Brothers Grimm Bistro is the creation of three partners: Alvaro Valencia, Marvin Grimm and Peter Desotto. Our journey and partnership began with our first company, Urban Map Inc. (Builders/Developers) where we purchased the then dilapidated property of 193 King St. East. It took Urban MAP Inc. five years to restore this land into an extraordinary building that now houses 11 luxury condo/loft/style apartments, Bench Kitchen Restaurant on the main floor, and finally our latest achievement, Brothers Grimm Bistro. Each partner brought their own unique skills throughout the entire project which was overseen by Alvaro Valencia throughout the duration of the build out.
The restaurant was a culmination of all our life travels, personal culture, and life experiences all rolled into one concept unlike any restaurant we had seen before. Our food which showcases wild game is purposely designed to accompany our own barrel aged beer while the atmosphere suggests a 16th century cellar bistro with thick wood tables, clay dishes, stone walls, and a vaulted brick ceiling.
Bothers Grimm is proud to present international chef, Hamid Mehrpoor. A true polymath and cosmopolitan, Chef Hamid speaks fluently four languages (understands Italian, French), holds a pilots licence, and received a Distinguished Talent Visa from the Australian government to train their Olympic wrestling team in the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Following, he became “Chef Du Pertie” at the 2 Michelin Star restaurant Locanda Locatelli in London England. His culinary palate draws from Italian, Latin American, Asian; yet his foundation and training derive from the classical French kitchen. Known especially for his skills with wild game and meat, we are confident Chef Hamid’s leadership shall usher new levels of originality into the kitchen of Brother’s Grimm Bistro.
